This was tough to watch. Some of the Ten Swords are making Kenshin's allies look like scrubs. At least they still make Sansouke look like a badass in this arc. Tensions are high this episode as the battle for Kyoto continues. This is an all out war at this rate and no one is really safe. I'm also starting to find Kamatari more annoying in these latest episodes. Yumi also proves her loyalty to Shishio but no one should really be surprised. |

I know a lot of people are fighting for their lives, but yeah, all these cuts and jumping from one place to the other kind of diminishes the meaning of these scenes, which would’ve felt really impactful otherwise. Like the whole sequence with the police chief, I mean the way he took a stand for his own people was really a character growth for him. Remember his and Saitou’s conversation from two-three episodes back. Still that man did everything he could, despite things going south anyway. At least now, they’re hopeful they can make it work. Really appreciate Anji saving the girls and Yahiko from Usui btw. Guy is a part of bad guy group but he a good person:) The ship is done for though lol. These people disrespected Sano and he paid them back in some style. Never underestimate the guy. All this original stuff ends here, I mean they sent Shishio packing by seriously humiliating him, as per his own words. Felt like the end of the arc btw lol, except it isn't by ANY means. I'm not sure how they're going to adapt the next two episodes. |

So the great Kyoto fire comes to a somewhat anticlimactic finish. Shishio plan backfired because he underestimated the little guy. This was an episode that belonged to the underdog. Nothing but respect to Sano and the Kyoto police officers. Everyone pulled their weight and stopped the disaster! Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for that next season to see the big fights! It’s still fuck Aoshi for wasting Kenshin’s time, but thankfully he and Shishio didn’t see Kenshin’s secret technique so he can still use that in the big fight. I just wish this dude would fuck off and stop being an edgy loser. You lost the fight, train and get over it. Don’t support someone destroying Japan’s most important city over some petty and childish grudge, plus betraying your own family for this.. like this dude better have some well written redemption arc otherwise it’s fuck ’em for me. Fujita is a much cooler character. Kinda already obvious from when he trained Sano, but Anji seems like a good dude on the inside. I wonder if he’ll turn on Shishio when it’s all said and done? Also so glad the old police officer from last week is ok man I was gonna be so mad if they killed him off. I need someone as dedicated to me as Hoji is to Shishio because holy shit his love is next level lmao. |

Okay im sorry this season has officially been one of the biggest pieces of trash I've ever watched. The first season was pretty good and generally didn't have any bad points I could speak off. But your telling me we waited like roughly 15-19 episodes for a fire which gets put out immediately and a ship which doesn't even get a chance to move and shoots once. For such an obnoxiously long build up this was complete trash. The only good parts imo are some SOME of the characters a few good action sequences and Shishio. I firmly in my whole heart believe that without Shishio this season would genuinely be complete and utter garbage I actually think he's a really good, cool and interesting villian but he is heavily holding together this season for me personally. |

😌 Anji stopped Usui in time The younger grunt bought into the whole survival is the fittest idea, but when the older grunt risks his life, he has to get treatment. At Takani's temporary clinic, the citizens of Kyōto shun the thugs away but Takani does not discriminate as a doctor. The elderly police officer is recovering and the kid with him owes his life to the older grunt. Kamatari and Henya fight the police that changed their minds about retreating until the fires start up again. The police are too exhausted to help the civilians and oniwanbanshu extinguish the fires. Fortunately, Ryūsaku requested the help from Kyoto's neighbours, beforehand. Misao and Yahiko head to the streets now Usui is gone, Kaoru follows behind, bowing in gratitude to Anji from a distance, first. Hoji has so much cultish devotion to Shishio that he uses his own blood to put out the bomb's fuse. But Sano has his true ultimate weapon, his fist, and uses Futae no Kiwami to blow a hole in the Rengoku. Kenshin and Aoshi must hold off their duel because of it. Yumi shields her man, her act stops Saito from using his Gatotsu since he only engages when he's sure he can win. Shishio and his followers flee the sinking ship, before he leaves, Seta reveals Anji is part of the Juppongatana to Sano. lol Saito's cigarette pack is soggy Sano was today's hero. lmao he rolled over in time to miss Saito's sword through the carriage. How much damage will they see when they return to Kyoto? |

Very good episode and I like that this is it own thing, if things were exactly like in original or manga,it wouldn't have many sense. Even in the episode previews of Aniplex channel Aoshi say it xD. Houji and his fanatism make him strong xD, and that's why Kenshin and Aoshi match stopped, because Sanosuke suceeded but not with Katsu grenades this time. Overall they did make the Rengoku arc better imo, the police chief, the two Shishio faction underlings, the kid and the old man, all are good characters that displays the pilosophic themes of Ruroken. I liked too the participation of the firefighters, this time Shishio almost suceed in his plan. And Megumi, how much prominence, and the triage system, curious to see how that worked in that epoque. That Saito stopping the Gatotsu was a cool moment too. The Sanosuke theme that plays when Kenshin tells saito that he is a confiable ally is my favourite OST theme in this reboot since season 1. My only dissapointment is that they dont adapt Master of Flame this season, was a very good oportunity. Perhaps they do the next Season like this, with more episodes for the arc, original moments and MOF. I would rather Jinchuu arc soon, but I think we would have to wait a little more. Anyway, more Ruroken is always welcome. |

Although I loved this episode like all the others, I can’t deny that the “Great Kyoto Fire” lasting one episode is a little lame lol, same with the Rengoku getting sunk before it could even fire its main cannon, I kinda wish they would have fired it once just to show how powerful it is but oh well, like I said this episode was still fantastic. It really was a beautiful thing witnessing all of these people that aren’t super badasses like Kenshin or Saito coming together to stop Shishio’s plan, the police pulled their weight against two of the Ten Swords, the Oniwaban and citizens paired with the firefighters stopped the spread of the fire, and last but certainly not least, Sanosuke pretty much destroying the Rengoku by himself, Houji tried so damn hard to stop it in any way he could, even going as far as to put out the fuse of the bomb with his own blood, but he simply couldn’t deal with the unstoppable force that is Sanosuke, I kinda respect Houji for his dedication there tho, he may not fight but he is strong in his own right. And I guess really it’s a good thing Kenshin and Aoshi’s fight ended prematurely so Kenshin’s move wouldn’t be shown off quite yet, but yeah it was a bit of a disappointing conclusion, at least the pirate samurai battle was cool. And lastly, it was nice to see Megumi take on those lads from Shishio’s army, I had a feeling she wouldn’t turn them away, I’m also happy to hear the old man officer didn’t die, would’ve been a real shame if he did, hopefully those Shishio guys turn a new leaf after this like the old man suggested. |

I mean I can’t really say wether this is a good adaptation or not I never watched the original. I don’t have a problem with the animation or voice acting or anything like that. Yeah, that always has been the flaw of this arc. The Rengoku is too huge of a deal, both historically and visually, to not be used as the climax of the story, but instead, it's only a way to give the opportunity for the two sides to talk and prepare the final. They tried to give it more suspense there, by adding a lot of new scenes (in the Manga, it's only 3 Chapters, and was adapted in less than an episode in the previous adaptation). It doesn't help that the general pacing of this Season is much slower than the other iterations, tho. Only the Live-Action Movies had a good use of the Rengoku, by introducing it much earlier, and merging the final with what we have seen there. |

I know that this is what the meaning of filler is, but man do I feel like that “Kenshin vs. Aoshi”really didn’t even do it impact anything lmaooo. I have a rough feeling where they plan to end stuff, so I get why they did this, but yeah, other than Sano’s part, I didn’t really like this little extended arc. |

@IzanaSolos I guess the impact of the fight is that Aoshi and kenshin's secret style was about to be revealed, but that moment, the bomb happened, and Shishio felt the desire to fight against Kenshin. that's why he stopped the fight because the fight would be the valueless one on purgatory. |

Someone that fights with honour huh a rarity within the swords. Using one's blood to put out the spark really took some dedication. More than anything the police forces on Kyoto sure had some backbone. Having Megumi take a more active role in the kyoto arc is defo a welcome change. As was seeing the locals help by stopping the fires. Arato's foresight really came in handy. The best way to counter fires is with firefighters after all. With the confrontation on the battleship now over looks like Kenshin and co would be able to relieve the forces in Kyoto where things are still knife edged. |

Shishio running away was one of the most anticlimactic things in this arc. He simply let Sano go there and destroy the ship. Then he watched Kenshin's fight. In Kyoto, the ten swords practically did nothing. Everyone was lost in this arc. The script was pretty bad. |

Its nice to see police chief backup plan workout as how juppongatana decided to retreat as well considering there's no Shishio at all there. Meanwhile, with the previous cliffhanger, gonna take a good credit to Sano with all the fuss. He manage to postpone the ultimate moves with sunken Ironclad in the end. I am proud of him. Now when everything ended with such a good notes, don't know why they need a negative title for the next. Then, while i don't quite give a good impression by how this happening, still looking forward to see, if, they decided to continue this furthermore.... |

Sano came through, and Kenshin almost pulled out the secret mitsirugi technique; as much as I dislike Shishio, he does have a warrior's spirit which is commendable. Also, I still can't figure out why that buddhist guy hasn't switched sides; like i get it, you don't like the government but how can you line up with terrorists just because of that? |

@AlphaTigerFox In the original, they just appeared on the ship. shishio used a guttling gun on Sano, then Sano used futai noki wami and threw the bomb towards the ship, and the purgatory sunk instantly. Are you okay with that?? Are you saying that the original version of this scene is better than the remake?? |

I haven't paid attention to this before but Shishio comes off as a dumbass, he just stood there doing nothing, had Soujirou stand there doing nothing too, sent off all the other Ten Swords where they're not needed, and when the ship was blown off he's like "My plan has failed because I underestimated you!", it's like he wasn't even trying. |

Woah, so many people assuming this was the climax of the Kyoto Saga... well, not that I can blame them for thinking that tho. The intention of attacking Tokyo with a literal Destroyer is actually a pretty big deal considering the time period so I guess it all comes down to the author's inability to properly exploit such threat in the narrative department. Personally, I was never a fan of how brief and inconsequential this arc ended up being originally so it is what it is. That said, I gotta appreciate all the effort the staff put into this remake of the Rengoku/Great Kyoto Fire arc. It was definitely better executed than its 96' counterpart and gotta say I really enjoyed all the anime-original additions and storylines. Some Juppongatana members as well as some Oniwabanshū ones became a little more relevant and the anime-original side-stories regarding the Police Chief, Megumi and those two Shishio followers ended up being fairly interesting in my opinion. Not to mention a great complement to an already short arc within the saga. |

Anji stopping Usui targeting Misao is quite the surprise, coming off of two very different ideals at the outlook of life. Sanosuke getting to Rengoku's engine room, with his explosives on hand...and then just just using his bare hands to put a leak onto the ship. At this moment, with some of the houses catching fire, the Oniwaban Group prioritizing safety than most, even for the thugs which Megumi still gives her time for, regardless of their actions and putting Omi on unconscious life support. Even the Ten Swords sense something amiss enough to dismiss their actions for now, as Kyoto gets underway pulling houses out of the fire, thanks to the Chief's planning. And with the explosives being set off on Rengoku, Hajime and Kenshin have no choice but to stop their actions, as is the Shishio clan in pulling out of the ironclad ship. Absolutely, for one uneducated clown to prove critical in his operation, thanks to Kenshin and Saito's input, Shishio underestimated the triforce between the trio enough to make them his enemies for the future. Sanosuke really proved himself this season, but it's clear that more surprises are in store for the trio. But I must admit that this is a bit of a disappointment to see a rather critical arc just start and then finish anti-climatically. More hype stuff will have to wait for the next season unfortunately. |
